Download the XIM software.
This file contains the XIM.exe and config.
Now there is no need to install any programs, all you need to do is leave it somewhere, like your desktop for instance. The bright side is that it makes the software portable. So it’s easy to use XIM on different locations.
The Steps …
1. First thing you need is your XIM toolkit which you can buy from e-bay or some other online market place.

2. Make sure the PS2 – PS3 controller adapter is connected to the XIM modification. I provide a good and working adapter that delivers 62/63 updates per sec.

3. Next connect the USB cable from the XIM modification into a working USB port from a pc/laptop. Connect the other USB cable from the PS2 – PS3 adapter into your Playstation 3 #1 USB port.

4. Now your ready, so fire up your PS3 & PC with game of choice. You’ll notice that the 4 LED’s on the PS2 – PS3 adapter are flashing. For now just use your normal controller.
Once you’ve loaded a game, navigate to your controller setup with in the game and look at the button configuration, leave it here so you know what buttons to config.
5. Next start up the XIMconfig.exe to setup your keyboard mapping. The config program was originally written for a Xbox 360 controller, so I’ll convert it here for you so you know what buttons to set for the PS3.

6. Once you have your desired buttons setup, “save as” your config to the name of the game so you know which configs are for what game for later use.
7. Now start up the XIM.exe and you should notice your mouse and keyborad buttons moving on the XIM interface.
8. The next step works for me when I play Killzone 2.
You’ll need to set the original controller to another “controller slot”. Just try slot #2. Press and hold the “PS-button” from the original controller and change the slot in the setup that appears. Now “slot #1” is free you can try to connect with your XIM modification. The default controller mapping in the XIM software for the “PS button” is “up-arrow + Backspace”. If correct the LED’s will stop flashing and #1 will be selected.
Each game works different I have noticed. It’s really for yourself to try what works best.
You may need to try different slot settings to see what works best for which game.
TIP: If you have done everything as I’ve instructed and you still get no movement from mouse & keyboard then simply remove the the controller adapter from the PS3 and plug it back in and it should now work.
TIP 2: Leave the PS3 controller on at all times, when I first started using XIM, I kept turning off my controller and nothing worked. I’m not sure if XIM works with the original controller turned off.
This is how I get my XIM to work with a Playstation 3. I am sure there are more ways to get XIM to work properly. BTW, this works for both Windows XP and Vista.
Good Luck!
